musicians, and
two hours to play.
RockLab Social is the one Saturday a month when the whole studio ends up in the same room. A six-year-old on drums and a grown adult on guitar, learning the same song at the same time, and pulling it off together by lunch.
It is not a lesson and it is not a recital. It is the part in between, where what you have been practicing alone finally gets played with other people.
Come as you are Bring your instrument or come empty-handed. We keep gear you can borrow, and nobody is auditioning for anything.

They figure it out

Today I learned that in my lessons I’m learning chords, but I need to work on switching them faster to be able to play with other kids.
Harrison C., guitar student At the end of one Saturday, Syreeta asked the room what they had learned. This is close to how Harrison put it.
A kid walked in knowing his chords and walked out knowing the difference between knowing them and being able to use them. That gap is the whole reason this Saturday exists, and no amount of practicing alone will close it.
More music in your month.
Life happens. Someone gets sick, a game runs long, the week gets away from you. When a student misses their regular weekly lesson, RockLab Social is where that time comes back, and it comes back bigger. Two hours instead of thirty minutes, in a room full of other musicians instead of one.
The best part is that it was never a consolation prize. Every active BRMS student is invited every single month, whether they missed anything or not.
Two hours, not thirty minutes
Four times the room time of a private lesson, and a teacher on site to check in, hear where you are, and point you somewhere useful.
You play with people
The thing a weekly lesson cannot give you. Counting off together, listening across a room, and finding out that the song works. That is the skill that makes a musician.
A video from your instructor
When you let us know ahead of time, your instructor can also send a video lesson so nothing in your own material stalls while you are out.
Current Young Band students: RockLab Social is still yours, every month, same as always. Come hang, sit in on somebody else's song, and play with people you do not normally get a room with.
Back in the room.
First one of the fall. Bring a friend, bring your instrument, or bring neither and use ours. If you have been meaning to try this, September is the easy one to walk into.

Eleven in the room, with Syreeta leading the day. The meet-and-greet circle surfaced a bunch of new musical range: Brooke H. singing (she is also a violinist), Georgia B. stepping from drums toward vocals and landing a vocal duet with Bridget G., Evan A. drumming and singing, Wyatt on bass, Gibson G. and Lily Grace L. on guitars, Connor A. and Brady A. bringing the experienced end of the room. Kate W. and Abbie W. rounded it out.
Brand-new people locking in together on a 10-minute timer. Those are the goose-bumpy moments they keep in their back pocket.

Free and included for every active BRMS student. Always has been, always will be.
Not a BRMS student?
Come see what this is. Your first RockLab Social is free. After that it is $40 a visit, and it is free again the moment you start lessons or classes with us.
Missed a lesson?
This is the place. Two hours of room time, a teacher on site to check in with, and other musicians to play with. Let us know ahead of time and your instructor can send a video lesson too.
Parking
Front and side of the building. Sunray Ave parking is fine.
Parents
Drop off, stay a bit, or stay the whole time. All three are good.
Snacks
We have water. Kids can bring snacks if they want.
How old do I have to be?
There is no age range. We have had a six-year-old and a player in his forties in the same circle, on the same song, in the same hour.
