What they want to do
Bands in the room
July is the month our YBN team finalizes student placement decisions for Fall 2026. If your teen is thinking about YBN, this is the one to come to. Current YBN students: RSVP with what you want to do so I can stage gear before you walk in.

RockLab Social
Eleven in the room, with Syreeta and April leading the day. The meet-and-greet circle surfaced a bunch of new musical range: Brooke H. singing (she's also a violinist), Georgia B. stepping from drums toward vocals and landing a vocal duet with Bridget G., Evan A. drumming and singing, Wyatt on bass, Gibson G. and Lily Grace L. on guitars, Connor A. and Brady A. bringing the experienced end of the room. Kate W. and Abbie W. rounded it out. Brand-new people locking in together on a 10-minute timer — the goose-bumpy moments they keep in their back pocket.

The moved Saturday
Originally May 9, moved a week for the flash floods. Seven students made the new date: Gibson G., Harrison C., Logan A., Annalise M., Adia P., Sam L., and Phoebe W. Full recap coming.
Saturday, May 9 CANCELED · Flash flooding made the drive risky. +
Flash flooding across Greater Baton Rouge made the drive risky for families. We moved the whole community to Saturday, May 16. Same rooms, same plan, safer day.

Finn and Harrison, mid-jam.
Eleven students across a wide age range. New faces: Brooke H. on vocals, Elise M., Sam L., Bridget G. Returners: Georgia B. on drums, Gibson G., Jimmy B., Pheobe W., Harrison C., Finn T. Harrison was the youngest of the day.
YBN Connect
Pheobe joined the mini band-camp.
Two tracks running at once. Current YBN boys (Jacob H., Brady A., Connor A., Jude C., Ethan C.) huddled up to record together with the entire studio mic'd: two drum sets, bass, guitar. While that ran, Doug took the three prospective students (Annalise M., Pheobe W., Jackson T.) into a side room and ran a three-hour mini band-camp. They learned a Weezer song together. Finn T. dropped in to check it out, then headed back to RockLab.
What came out of itThree prospective students walked in and left having played live in a band. The mini band-camp model works.

RockLab Social
Stand By Me. Ages 6 to 40s, one room.
First RockLab Social of the year. Ages spanned 6 to 40s: Remy C. on drums at 6, Georgia B. on drums at 10, Abby W. singing at 15, Jimmy B. in his 40s. Scenic Highway (Jack, Harry, Max) and Jude C. came in early before YBN Connect to be part of the room. Everyone landed on Stand By Me together.
YBN Connect
Adia sitting in with Scenic Highway.
Scenic Highway (Jack, Harry, Max, and Jude C.) came in to rehearse for a special gig. Their instructor Deb joined them. JT H. set up an individual recording session for one of his originals. Adia was set up with GarageBand but the room was where she wanted to be. When Scenic Highway finished, she sat in.
What came out of itAdia is now becoming a member of Scenic Highway. This door only opened because of YBN Connect.
